Fairways to Heaven

Hit the Natural State Golf Trail

Lush fairways, smooth greens and challenging holes set in an array of natural, pristine landscapes — it’s all par for the course in Arkansas. The diversity of the state’s terrain is suited for many different types of courses, such as Scottish-style links courses in the Delta and Grand Prairie or rolling fairways tucked into the hardwood forests of the Ozark Mountains.

Arkansas has more than 200 private, semi-private and public courses ready for play. Among its many private courses, Arkansas boasts The Alotian Club. Owned by Warren Stephens, member of Augusta National and son of the late Masters chairman Jack Stephens, the Alotian is a spectacular 18-hole course covering 300 acres of hilly and often steep terrain that meanders through pine-dominated woods. Every hold has gorgeous views of Lake Maumelle. Every year, the club hosts the Jackson T. Stephens Charitable Golf Tournament, which brings in a top ranked member of the PGA Tour to town for an exhibition and clinic with local children. In 2006, its inaugural year, Tiger Woods attended. In 2007, Phil Mickelson wowed the crowds with his powerful swing.
